BC+A was founded in 2008 by Bergendy Cooke. Returning to New Zealand after 10 years living and working in Europe and North America she brought with her experience garnered from world renowned practices such as the Pritzker Prize winning, Zaha Hadid Architects, Adjaye Associates in London and Peter Marino Architects in New York.

From such diverse practices Bergendy gained equally diverse experience working on projects ranging through retail, residential, restaurants and furniture throughout the world, with limited to quite significant budgets .

The essence of the practice is to create refreshing and refined solutions through a rigorous process incorporating site, client’s brief and an investigation of materials applied according to their qualities of durability and timelessness. The practice has an inherent passion for art and projects are perceived not only as buildings but works of sculpture to be inhabited and to endure over time.

BC+A  has been published throughout the world, featured as a finalist in ‘Home of the year 2011’ Living Channel NZ, and recently on the cover of’ Big Small NZ Recent Residential Architecture’. The practice currently operates in Queenstown, New Zealand and Barcelona, Spain.
